The Goodpasture Chronicles
A family. A manor on a hill in northern New Hampshire. A house that has been waiting for them. Written with my wife and creative partner, Rhonda, under the pen name R.J. Halbert.
Caretaker
The Keane family leaves Boston for a Tudor manor on Farr Hill — hidden rooms, cryptic symbols, whispers in the halls, and a groundskeeper who has outlasted every family before them. Kirkus called it “an imaginative series debut.”
Servant
The chronicle deepens. Servant debuted at No. 1 and earned a Kirkus Blue Star — the manor's history reaches back further, and darker, than anyone in Littleton is willing to say out loud.
Architect
The trilogy's conclusion. Who built the Farr Hill Manor, why, and what it was built to hold. Every door the Keanes have opened leads here.

Two lives. One voice.
R.J. Halbert is the husband-and-wife team behind The Goodpasture Chronicles — a supernatural saga about breaking generational curses to forge new bonds of hope. Together they are the authors of a supernatural fantasy trilogy that blends mystery, suspense, endurance, and triumph into an epic adventure. Book One, Caretaker, received the 2025 Bill Fisher Silver Award; Book Two, Servant, earned the coveted Blue Star from Kirkus Reviews.
Their story is written the way it was lived — two careers, two perspectives, and thirty-three years of shared life, braided into a single narrative voice.
Based somewhat on truth and experience — but even more so, brimming with imagination. More at rjhalbert.com.
